Lush Cosmetics: Bath Bomb Haul

Lush Cosmetics

In a change to the usual travel posts, I’ve decided to ‘explore’ some of Lush Cosmetics’ new Mother’s Day and Easter bath bombs, along with much older favourites!

Lush Cosmetics

Atom Heart Mother

Let’s start with a bath bomb from the Mother’s Day line, specifically the one that looks like the ‘Toy Story’ wallpaper… ‘Atom Heart Mother’.

As a lover of all things citrus, this one is right up my street! Filled with bergamot, neroli and Brazilian orange oils, this one smells delightful!

In terms of its appearance, I loved the intricate detailing of the clouds around the blue. I was surprised to see the water turn pink though, but I’m guessing that’s to make it look more rosey (as rose absolute is another ingredient).

Lush Cosmetics

Mother of Pearl

This is my favourite from this haul because it reminds me of my mum. If my mum could be a bathbomb, she’d be ‘Mother of Pearl’.

The scent of this one is pure jasmine / gardenia, both of which are my mum’s top two flowers. Surprisingly, no jasmine or gardenia was used in the making of this… Instead, it featured ylang ylang oil, vanilla absolute, illipe butter, and organic rose hip oil.

Off-white, covered in glitter and pearl-like in appearance, this bath-bomb made the water milky.

Lush Cosmetics

Flamingo Egg

Now for my Easter selection… ‘The Flamingo Egg’ is the one I was most excited about to begin with, then I became sceptical after reading the mixed reviews on the website (and as ever, I clicked ‘pay securely’ before checking!)

Described as “candy” scented, I can’t say it was. Although the fragrance was strong, I am struggling to describe it apart from using words like ‘chemical soap’. Maybe I had a bad batch?

In terms of the ingredients, this one was apparently filled with vetivert oil, coarse sea salt, and Sicilian lemon oil. I’m sure you’ll agree, this is by far the craziest combination… I feel like Lush scientists went mad while making this one in their soap laboratory.

The positives about Lush Cosmetics’ Flamingo Egg bath bomb are: the aesthetic – its geode effect, and the way it turned the water pastel bluey teal before gradually settled at a purple once the pink (top half) got dissolved.

I just really didn’t like the smell, nor the ingredients overall (apart from the Sicilian orange, ofc). Weirdly, I later found out that ‘vetivert’ is used in masculine fragrances?!I’ll never understand why Lush Cosmetics decided to include this into a bath-bomb with a predominately female demographic.

A lot of reviews mentioned that this bath bomb turned the reviewers’ light hair pink, I can’t comment on that as I’m brunette… Others said it left their skin looking pink, I didn’t notice this either.

Lush Cosmetics

The Owl and the Pussycat

This is a limited edition 3-in-1, inspired by the famous poemThe Owl and the Pussycat’. Say ‘hello’ to the cute blue cat, yellow owl and green boat… As far as Lush Cosmetics colour combinations go, this is one of the wildest.

Ingredients of this bath bomb include: gardenia extract, ‘wobble wobble’ (also known as: carrageenan extract) which made me laugh, agar agar and ‘floating on pea pods’. As made up as most of these ingredients sound, they’re actually real!

This one is super cute, it reminds me of ‘Love Boat’ – which is my all time favourite Valentine’s Day bath bomb, I’d say. Back to the bath bomb at hand, it turned my bath water mint green.

Lush Cosmetics

Dragon’s Egg

Speaking of Lush Cosmetics’ Easter range, this is the perfect time to reveal my favourite bath bomb of theirs that ever existed, ‘Dragon’s Egg’.

This one needs no introduction, it’s unarguably the best citrussy bath bomb out there! Ingredients include lemon oil, bergamot oil, jasmine absolute, and popping candy.

Bizarrely, I actually fell asleep in the bath – even though its scent is one of the most intense. I love the smooth & silkiness of my skin post-bath, from rubbing the multi-colour creamy leftover floaty bits into my skin.

Lush Cosmetics went all-out with this one, there’s even a yolk-y coloured centre, I just love it – it’s like a non-edible white chocolate Cadbury’s creme egg.

Lush Cosmetics

Deep Sleep

Deep Sleep’ is a bath bomb that I’ve reviewed on here before, prior to wiping all my old posts. I’m super gutted that it had to go, but as I’ve explained previously – I recently switched to an SEO plan, and most of my 64 posts weren’t SEO’d. The length of time it’d take to SEO them all?! Let’s just say it felt like I’d be there until I retire…

Ingredients of this bath bomb include lavender flowers, together with lavender and neroli oils. This is a basket staple of mine because I often get insomnia, so the soothing lavender chills me out before bed.

The lavender flowers are uniquely wrapped in the type of material which makes tote bags, and secured in place with a purple thick paper ribbon.

Before you ask, yes – Prince’s ‘Purple Rainwas playing on loop, as I lay in the purple water.

What’s next on my Lush Cosmetics list? ‘Melusine’, ‘The Sleeping Giant’, ‘Follow the Rabbit’ and ‘Rose Gold’.

Etsy – Local Businesses: FairyMoonCandlesUK

Following on from my newly written local businesses post, I’d like to re-post my favourite local business: FairyMoonCandlesUK.

(I have re-branded my blog, so I wanted to re-write my favourite posts to reflect that)

Pandora’s FairyMoonCandlesUK is a small Mancunian business which I discovered on Etsy.

Head Fairy, Pandora, makes beautiful handcrafted soy wax candles that are vegan and eco-friendly.

Before I delve deeper, I want to start by saying that FairyMoonCandlesUK combines everything I love in a candle: floral, healing crystals and fragrance.

GUARDIAN ANGEL CANDLE

The ‘Guardian Angel’ candle is a refreshing citrus-scented candle…

I love everything about it, from the fragrance, scattered rose petals and sequins to the citrine & clear Quartz centrepieces. Simply sublime!

If lemon isn’t your thing, there are other varieties that are just as stunning. All types can be found here.

In terms of packaging, the candle arrived very well wrapped in tissue paper, and tied together securely with a neat bow.

It’s fair to mention that I gifted this candle to my boyfriend’s mum last Christmas, he relayed her message: “she absolutely loves it! Super lemony, gorgeous too, thanks!

My mum also gifted a couple to her friends, this candle, to which their response was: “how unique! It’s very authentic.” / “it’s lovely, thank you! The stones in there are a great touch.” / “it goes perfectly with the decor [the recipient owns a beauty salon]”

‘ENCHANTED’ CANDLE

Moving onto ‘Enchanted’ (pictured at the top), this is one of FairyMoonCandlesUK’s bestsellers!

This candle is lavender scented, and features a rose Quartz centrepiece. For those of you who don’t know, rose Quartz is the stone of unconditional (and universal) love.

The lavender is very fragrant but soothing all the same. Its relaxing properties make it easy to see why it’s such a bestseller.

The presentation and packaging of ‘Enchanted’ was identical to that of ‘Guardian Angel’. It arrived in a metal pot with a see-through plastic lid showcasing the stunning candle in all its glory.

Similarly to ‘Guardian Angel’, the silver sequins, mini raw clear quartz pieces and dried rose petals were a standard – this time, paired with a light dusting of lavender and a rose quartz statement piece.

Next on my list is FairyMoonCandleUK’s Moonlight candle (including Moonstone), followed by Sweet Dreams (featuring Amethyst).

It would be a dream to partner with FairyMoonCandles on scents & crystal combination ideas of my own.

Pandora, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for bringing joy to so many. Your candles and concepts are amazing!

Shop Small: ‘Enchanted’ by FairyMoonCandlesUK

shop small

I’m back with another ‘shop small’ post, and again with FairyMoonCandlesUK. This time, it’s the turn of ‘Enchanted’ (a bestseller)!

Yep, I am obsessed – but also: it was a gift from the wonderful Pandora, (as a thank you for my previous review of ‘Guardian Angel’).

Tell me more about FairyMoonCandlesUK

FairyMoonCandlesUK is a small business operating from Manchester, England. It’s owned by Head-Fairy Pandora! 🧚

All products from this Etsy store are handmade by Pandora herself, organically sourced, vegan and eco-friendly.

What does FairyMoonCandlesUK sell?

The clue is in the name… FairyMoonCandlesUK produces and sells a variety of scented soy wax crystal candles. 💎🕯

With Valentine’s / Galentine’s / Self-Lovingtine’s Day around the corner, this would be the perfect gift! 🎁

Tell me more about the ‘Enchanted’ candle

‘Enchanted’ is a lavender scented rose-quartz candle. As I’ve mentioned previously, rose quartz is the stone of unconditional and universal love…

The aroma of lavender is nicely potent, but soothing. You can keep it open in your room as you sleep. 💤

shop small

What’s the packaging of ‘Enchanted’ like?

The ‘Enchanted’ candle came packed in the same way as ‘Guardian Angel’ (the citrine candle I bought las year).

It arrived wrapped in gift paper, tied securely with a cute bow. Also, the bubble wrap underneath (protecting the candle) is biodegradable – so that’s a plus. 🌎 ♻️

In terms of the candle itself, it was identical to ‘Guardian Angel’ in the way it’s presented, inside a metal pot with a transparent plastic lid, showing off the stunning candle.

Let’s talk about the aesthetic of ‘Enchanted’

Like ‘Guardian Angel’, the silver sequins, mini raw clear quartz pieces and dried rose petals are a standard – joined by a light dusting of lavender and a rose quartz statement piece. 🌹✨

I hugely regret lighting my ‘Guardian Angel’ candle last time! So, I’ve learned my lesson.

What’s next on my FairyMoonCandles list?

I’ll continue to shop small with FairyMoonCandlesUK (and other Etsy stores).

Next on my list is FairyMoonCandleUK’s Moonlight candle (including Moonstone), followed by Sweet Dreams (featuring Amethyst). I also plan on re-buying ‘Guardian Angel’ at some point too!

Pandora, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. Wishing you a successful & prosperous 2021! ✨

Lush: Limited Edition Bath-Bombs

bath-bombs

Valentine’s Day is around the corner, so I’m starting the celebrations early by trying out Lush’s limited edition bath-bombs.

I bought four, one of which I’ve used loads of times before – because I just love it!

bath-bombs

Lush Love Boat

Love Boat’ is my all-time favourite, limited-edition Lush bath-bomb. Every year, I’d get one and set sail (in my own bathtub).

Regarding the aesthetic: its blue & pink hues, together with the hidden yellow are just perfect, blending together to make the softest, most dreamy purple.

Now, for the fragrance: it’s very citrusy thanks to the addition of sweet organic orange oil and Sicilian lemon oil. But, I particularly like the twist coming from the rose oil.

bath-bombs

Love Me Do

Love Me Do’ is one of the newer Lush limited-edition bath-bombs… Upon first impressions, it reminds me of Deep Sleep.

Like Deep Sleep, it includes lavender oil – but the difference is this one’s rose-heavy, as opposed to just lavender.

I love, ‘Love Me Do’ mainly for its backstory… Lush included only the finest of Pakistani roses – sourced from its regenerative buying project in Pakistan.

bath-bombs

Love Locket

Love Locket’ is yet another new limited-edition bath-bomb, but this one’s even more special because it’s a three-in-one!!!

Sort of like the concept of Russian Dolls, this is a giant heart locket – with mini hearts hidden under the lock (which – by the way – is a mini detachable bath-bomb). You can opt to use this all in one go, or spread it out across three baths.

It you’re a Lush aficionado, the best way to describe this is it’s identical to Yummy Mummy (a line of limited-edition products celebrating Mother’s Day). In other words, this bath-bomb’s top notes are strawberry and geranium.

bath-bombs

Heart Beat

Lastly but by no means least-ly, this limited-edition bath-bomb is ‘Heart Beat’.

Now, if you’re looking for a product to compare it to, think: Rose Jam. It’s pretty much the bath-bomb version! Yep, you guessed it – like most before it, this one also smells like roses!

Aesthetically, it’s beautiful… Bright pink with gold hearts… What’s not to love!?

Which is my favourite?

They’re all lovely… I cannot choose!

🌟 Roses are my favourite flowers (and there’s rose aplenty in each) 🌹

🌟 Citrus is my favourite fragrance, particularly in Lush products – hence why I’ve loved Love Boat for the longest time! 🍊 🍋

🌟 ‘Love Locket’ is so unique in its aesthetic. 🔒❤️

🌟 …and Heart Beat is perfect thanks to skin softening cocoa butter… I came out the bath with smooth, glistening skin!

Have you tried any – or thinking of trying them? Let me know in the comments section below!

Pukka: Love Tea

pukka love

In the lead up to February 14, I intend to be spread the ‘love’ with posts like these…

I don’t want to tease you any longer, so let’s get straight into discussing ‘Love’ tea by Pukka!

It all started when I read that ‘Flower Power’ by Clipper (Cupper in Germany) was a great tea for clearing the liver, detoxifying the body and giving skin a radiant glow… After finding that out, I got hold of some!

pukka love

I loved it so much that I went in search of a tea that had the same benefits (to form a comparison post) and as if by magic, ‘Love’ by Pukka came into my life. I was very happy about this, because it fit my Valentine’s Day theme perfectly!

Although ‘Flower Power’ has hibiscus, chamomile, lime-flower and elderflower… ‘Love’ has chamomile, elderflower, lavender, licorice, limeflower and marigold. As you can see, the only ingredient missing from Love is ‘hibiscus’ – which I believe is easy to get hold of as a separate tea.

FYI: studies have proven that two herbal, vegan and organic teas a-day never hurt nobody… The worst that’s happened is they needed to empty their bladder a lot more than usual!

What are the said benefits of drinking ‘Love’ tea?

lavender

Lavender and chamomile are known to be relaxants. They calm the mind, and promote better sleep.

rose

Rose is associated with radiance, and leaves skin hydrated and moisturised – hence why it’s used in beauty products. It’s also supposed to be soothing.

elderflower and lime-flower

As you’ll notice, elderflower and lime-flower both featured in Clipper’s Flower Power – which claimed to detoxify the body and cleanse the liver, while also boosting the immune system.

marigold

Lastly [on the ingredients front], liquorice and marigold have great anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.

My verdict on Love tea

Honestly, I’ve only drank it twice (in two days), so I’m in no position to give a full review of its effects on me personally, but – what I will say is this: I’ve felt less bloated (PMS) – and with each sip, I fell in ‘lovethat little bit more…

A tip that I’d give those who are wanting to try it, but have a sweet tooth: pop a teaspoonful of honey/sweetener in, as it can be bland on its own. I opted for a spoonful of lavender honey (to enhance the flavour), and it did the trick.

What are the differences between ‘Love’ and ‘Flower Power’?

Honestly, not much. They are both quite bland without honey (no offence), use similar ingredients, and have the same sort of said benefits…

They’re also both floral in taste. Obviously, the only clear difference is one includes hibiscus, and the other includes marigolds, liquorice and lavender – so the taste just slightly varies.

Which is my favourite?

I’d have to say I’m a lover not a florist… Although, I would Love to open a florist when I retire. 💐

Love wins.

‘Guardian Angel’ Candle – Etsy

guardian angel

May your 2021 be filled with self-love, and self-care… ✨

If you loved my small business post, I’m hoping you’ll love this one!

I’d like to introduce you to Pandora’s FairyMoonCandlesUK, a small business on Etsy that do incredible scented, soy wax candles that are vegan and eco-friendly.

Those of you who know me, will know I love candles – even though I used to have an irrational fear of matches or flames! Emphasis on “used to”. 😂

guardian angel

Pandora at FairyMoonCandlesUK hand-makes the most beautiful scented candles, filled with sequins, dried rose petals and healing crystals (another passion of mine).

What is the ‘Guardian Angel’ candle?

The ‘Guardian Angel’ candle (pictured above) has a beautiful citrusy-lemon 🍋 meets ginger scent which I love! It’s very refreshing.

Also, it comes with pieces of clear quartz and citrine planted in the wax. Simply sublime… You’re welcome!

If lemon isn’t your thing, there are other varieties that are just as stunning. All types can be found here.

Oh, and – another thing that’s important is: customer service… Well the service I received, together with communication throughout shipment (and post-delivery) is second to none. Really, really fab.

Also, something unexpected arrived with my delivery – a free crystal gift as a little thank you for shopping with FairyMoonCandlesUK. That was an incredibly sweet touch.

Tell me more about the ‘Guardian Angel’ candle

guardian angel

Now for the packaging, very well wrapped. It came gift-wrapped in soft paper and securely fastened with a very neatly tied bow to match! The fairies pulled out all the magical stops… 🧚‍♀️

What others think of the ‘Guardian Angel’ candle

I gifted this candle to my boyfriend’s mum for Christmas, he passed on her message: “she absolutely loves it! Super lemony, gorgeous too, thanks!

My mum gifted a couple to her friends: “how unique! It’s very authentic.” / “it’s lovely, thank you! The stones in there are a great touch.” / “it goes perfectly with the decor [the recipient owns a beauty salon]”

I gave one to my mum too who lit it on the first day she received it, as she couldn’t wait another minute! 😭❤️

My next purchase will be for myself, one that I won’t light as it’s simply too stunning to light.

Thank you Pandora, your products are amazing.

I will be shopping with Pandora at FairyMoonCandlesUK throughout 2021, and I highly recommend her handmade pieces!

An Etsy Christmas Hamper

christmas hamper

Whattup, blogosphere!? ❤️

Today’s post is a little late in the game, but whatever! 😫

How was your Christmas!?

Hope it was awesome, even if forcibly a little different to ones we’re used to!

🚨 If you spent it alone to protect your loved ones from Covid-19, you’re a superhero and deserve every gift forevermore! 🚨

Mine? A recurring sport injury is back which meant I was ‘hoppin’ 🐰 around the Christmas tree 🎄 as opposed to ‘rockin’… But, I was grateful to spend it with my household – who still managed to make it special nonetheless.

Oh, and as far as presents go, while everyone seemed to either be getting pregnant, engaged or receiving Michael Kors gifts, I bought myself a Ninja Foodi Grill and a Christmas hamper from Etsy (store: PixieParlourHealing).

christmas hamper

I had myself a little self-love Christmas, y’all! ✌️

The Christmas hamper I ordered was a limited edition, so unfortunately it isn’t in stock right now.

The purpose of this post I guess is to distract myself from the aches and pains by sharing details of its contents with you (in case it’s something you’d like to get yourself or someone special next year)!

What is included in the hamper?

  1. A mulled wine bathbomb (pictured)
  2. A mulled wine candle (pictured)
  3. A handmade bauble filled with dried flowers, mini healing crystals & gold leaf
  4. One sachet of Twinings’ Turmeric, Orange & Star Anise tea
  5. A candy cane
  6. Mystery healing crystal

Let’s start with the little things, because: it’s all about the finer things in life.

christmas hamper

Candycane: Minty, as expected. Extremely Christmassy. A ‘sweet’ touch.

Tea: this is now my favourite flavour tea. Just yum.

Mystery crystal: Very intuitive. I received an ‘apatite’ crystal at a time when I’ve been suffering from inflammation in the knee.

Bauble: looked rustic and handmade, which I loved. Very unique. It was filled with tiny crystals, dry petals and gold leaf – simply stunning.

Okay, now for the pieces de resistances (plural)…

christmas hamper

Mulled wine bathbomb: usually I’d never cheat on Lush, but, dare I say that this was better.

It felt as if I was bathing in Santa’s house! 😂🎅

Another thing, there were bits of gold leaf floating around with me, so I fully felt those Beyoncé vibes! I. Stan. A. Queen! 👑

Mulled wine candle: of course I lit the matching candle that came with it [which smelled like a glass mulled wine with edible flower petals mixed in] while bathing, and – to put it simply, perfection.

My verdict on the Christmas hamper

My “Christmas bath with candle trimmings” left me relaxed AF! It led to the best sleep I’ve had in while…

All in all, a 5* hamper, I’d definitely buy again (when available).

In the meantime though, I’ll be checking out other hampers on the PixieParlourHealing Etsy store.
